SONG A DAY 2018

        Starting January 1, 2018 I'll be posting a song each day on my site and social media outlets. Some days it'll be a video of me playing an acoustic version or playing guitar and my weird foot drum kit of one the hundreds of songs I've played over the past 20 plus years of gigging (mostly solo) almost every night. Some days it'll be a clip of my main project www.diddleyidols.com and some days it might be a video I've done in the past or a recording of an original song on a previously released CD or maybe a new song not yet recorded. It's all a work in progress. It's all about the songs themselves and my version of it. The only thing I am sure of is that I won't be trying to duplicate any original version of anything (I've never done that before so why start now) I'm just letting the songs I love and love to sing and play be heard.  I'm also excited about the prospect of some the Irish Musicians I've played with and Irish Music fans I've met and Rock & Metal musicians and fans I've known and played with hearing and getting to know a bit about the other. Just as all people are just people, all songs are just songs and both transcend any and all boundaries of style, society or ethnicity. Twenty years is a long time and I've enjoyed every second of it, every person I've met along the way and especially every last measure of music.

      This idea was inspired by (some might even say stolen from) the amazingly talented Fergal Scahill from the band www.webanjo3.com who spent 2017 making a daily video document of Irish traditional tunes. Check him and this incredible band of seriously great musicians out if you get the chance.  

       I've been truly blessed to have had such a long run in so many different genres of music and never actually having to become a grown-up and I think this project illustrates both of those points. I hope you enjoy it, hear some songs you never heard  and get involved. Just like I say at every gig
